WHAT IS CA FOUNDATION? Examination, Registration,Exam Pattern

My dear friends, you have just cleared your class 12th exams and you must be thinking about choosing your further journey or destination because in today’s extremely competitive era, having merely a graduation degree is definitely not sufficient. One has to enroll for either a post graduation course or professional course to broaden the career scope and to enhance the job prospects. Now, for the students who opt for CA as their career option, I would like to say yes, you have taken a right decision as it is a profession which is not just a degree but a platform that provides opportunity for an individual to explore and get wide variety of knowledge in the fields of ACCOUNTING, TAXATION, FINANCE, MERGER & ACQUISITIONS etc.

Now your first hurdle in the race towards becoming a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT is the CA foundation examinations and you must be aiming to clear them in the 1st attempt itself. Before going further, I would like to clear one thing that do not overestimate your abilities of being a bright child or even TOPPER of your school. Once you clear your foundation level in the 1st attempt, you can easily clear the remaining two hurdles of the profession. One has to undergo regular studies, analytical skills, smart work along with hard work and most importantly having a positive and not casual approach towards the studies. 

Let us discuss first about what actually ca foundation  is all about and what are the subjects which we are going to study at this level. CA FOUNDATION is the exam which you can call an entrance level of the profession which you have to clear if you want to become a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT. To Crack these examination you need CA Foundation Course .

WHAT IS CA FOUNDATION????

• Entry level test for CA profession.

• It can be given after clearing 12th class and after enrolling yourself for CA profession with respected body called ICAI (INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS OF INDIA)

• This exam is held twice in year ( May and November)

• You have to complete your registrations till 30th June for November exam and 31st December for May exam.

• Registration is valid for 3 years. Post that you have to revalidate your registration.

• Four papers are there of 100 marks each

• You need to score minimum 40% marks in each paper and aggregate 50% in all 4 papers.

There are four subjects in CA FOUNDATION and below are the names of subjects which we have to study in detail.

1)  Paper 1: Principles and Practice of Accounting(100 marks)

2)  Paper 2: Business laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting Section A –Business Laws (60 marks) Section B- Business Correspondence and reporting (40 marks)

3)  Paper 3: Business Mathematics  and Logical  Reasoning  & Statistics Part 1-Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning (40 + 20 marks) Part 11- Statistics (40 marks)

4) Paper 4: Business Economics & Business and Commercial Knowledge Part 1- Business Economics (60 marks) Part 11- Business and Commercial Knowledge (40 marks)
